Political Correctness (PC) has been the scourge of our nation for almost twenty years now, i.e., since about the mid-1980s. The danger it poses to our freedoms is tremendous. Freedom of speech has been considered one of the pillars of the freedoms spelled out in the Bill of Rights. Yet PC has curtailed this freedom in a very subtle manner -- not outright condemnation for particular comments, but underhandedly making certain speech unacceptable, even when it is clearly legal. In certain circumstances there is outright condemnation, but almost at the mob level because there are usually no laws being broken. With this background, and with my propensity to "innocently" make un-PC comments because I am so opposed to PC, this very disturbing curtailment of our constitutional rights has to have its own blog section. I believe PC may even be putting our nation at great risk in dealing with terrorism, but at the very least it is causing inconvenience and embarrassment, and perhaps is making lawbreakers out of otherwise law-abiding citizens. This is a great subject to blog.
