As a youngster, my parents had encyclopedias with the Creation of Adam from the Sistene Chapel (shown at the upper left corner of this page) on the inside cover of all the books, and I was enthralled by it. I was fortunate enough to see the actual painting on two occasions, and I stared at it for hours... perhaps trying to envision Michaelangelo lying on his back struggling to get the details, perspectives, relative sizes, colors, etc., all correct. The spiritual connotations and beautiful artwork are obvious reasons for using the picture. What may not be so obvious are the other attributes of Michaelangelo's personality of perseverance, positive thinking, creativity, inventiveness, etc., to get the painting on the ceiling of the chapel. All of these traits and his skills make it a natural for this blog page. Along with Leonardo di Vinci, the work and skills of these two men have inspired me greatly.

Science Does Support Creationism, from "OTHER OPINION", in the Hartford Courant, Jan. 2, 2001. Although I put this article definitely under the "SCIENCE/TECHNOLOGY" blog, I would be remiss not to have it here as well. That is, creationism versus evolution is always a terrific way to start off any conversation! The new term is "intelligent design" of the universe... at least for our existence on earth. That makes more sense when one considers the laws of physics as we understand them today. Please Note: In the scanned article, the words "shock from" are missing at the bottom of the second column. Sorry for the inconvienence.
