For many years now I have been expounding the virtues of natural medications and natural healing. I will not give medical advice here, all I will do is relate experiences I have had in using naturopathic techniques. I will also provide my perspective on the medical profession, healthcare issues, and how they apply to folks today and in their everyday lives. And then sports. Having been an athlete for most of my life, I will add my blog to both helping athletes to perform better on the athletic field, and the ranting that big politics have become in sports. Health Insurers Should Finance Research, from "OTHER OPINION" in the Hartford Courant, August 20, 2001. Pharmaceutical manufacturers earn their bottom line selling patented drugs. Other medical research typically follows the ailment trail where the government provides funding for well established programs for particular ailments: cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc. And then there are research programs that dabble in the new and exciting: stem cell, DNA decoding, medical branch of nanotechnology. But how about healthcare providers. Shouldn't they be interested in developing procedures and cures that will reduce the need for expensive patented drugs? Especially in the homeopathic community where there are many known and proven cures, yet not approved by the FDA so doctors will not recommend or even consider their efficacy. Martin Decision A Detriment To Golf, from "LETTERS TO THE EDITOR" in the Hartford Courant, June 5, 2001. This was a letter in response to the Supreme Court weighing in on the links. Asthma Doesn't Have to Kill. I was a severe asthmatic who relied on inhalers to survive. Curiously, I learned how to do without them, for all the wrong reasons, until I found out the cause of my asthma and stumbled upon a cure. For those willing to try a simple experiment to get rid of your asthma, read on. That is, keep the inhalers, but get rid of your asthma! Tech football cheapened by match was a fun Opinion article written to express my displeasure with Georgia Tech football scheduling a game with fledgling Uconn [sic]. Most Northeasterners believe the pinnacle of college football revolves around Syracuse, Boston College and Penn State. Yet anyone who has been exposed to southern football and sees what is played in the Northeast knows year in and year out there is no comparison... REAL football is played down south... end of conversation! The article appeared September 6, 2002, in the Georgia Tech school newspaper The Technique. For the latest blog, please press here. |
