We were raising four wonderful children until 1999 when our oldest son Joey became seriously ill and passed away in 2001. We are blessed to still have three great children to nurture. The three oldest children were born in Atlanta, GA, the youngest having been born in Springfield, MA. From day one of the birth of our first child, we were committed to raising well rounded, well educated, and athletically active children. This meant Mom ate well during pregnancies, no alcohol, no drugs and plenty of exercise. After birth (all natural, of course), she totally breastfed the babies for at least nine full months. This meant no water, no formula, no milk or supplements, no bottles ever. And we used real cloth diapers with real safety pins and rubber pants! We started out with a delivery service in Atlanta that was local and worked well. Then when we moved to Connecticut, we actually had a diaper service that came all the way from Albany, NY, about a 90-minute drive from us, and every Tuesday they dropped off clean diapers and picked up the dirty ones. And to the credit of the diaper company, I do not recall a single glitch during the many years we used the service. Our oldest is in her last year of college, and we'll have two more starting over the next couple of years. So bloggin' about raising children comes very easily.
